CAUT Policy Statement

Integrated academic work includes teaching, scholarship, creative activities, and service. The balance of these activities may vary from time to time.

Service includes participation in collegial governance at all levels of the university: departmental, faculty, university, and academic staff associations. Service also includes but is not limited to advocacy, activism, and participation in professional organizations, academic societies, labour organizations, communities, and any other activities the member deems appropriate.

Academic Staff have the right to choose and participate in service activities which they deem appropriate. Service may constitute a one‐time and/or short‐lived contribution or may be an ongoing and/or long term commitment.

Approved by the CAUT Council, November 2015.
