Academic staff on strike at Mount Saint Vincent University

Morale is high in Halifax as members of the Mount Saint Vincent University Faculty Association (MSVUFA) have taken to the picket lines.

Academic staff associations  across the country are standing united with the nearly 160 full-time faculty, professional librarians and full-time lab instructors fighting for a fair deal.

History made at McGill – Law professors hit the picket line

For the first time in the 200-year history of McGill University, full-time faculty have gone on strike.

Frustrated by months of foot dragging by the administration, the Association of McGill Professors of Law (AMPL) staged a one-day strike on February 13.

Show your support by following AMPL on X and amplifying their calls for fair treatment from the university.

Show your support for workers at the University of Toronto

University of Toronto contract academic staff, post-docs, teaching assistants, library workers, and support staff with CUPE 3902, CUPE 3261 and CUPE 1230 have joined together to campaign for a living wage. For the first time, all three locals representing 7 different employee groups are in negotiations simultaneously.

You can stay up to date on the situation and find ways to support the CUPE locals at weareuoft.com.

Help get research funding in the 2024 federal budget

CAUT is calling for increased research funding in the 2024 federal budget. We have partnered with key stakeholders to make this happen.

The Coalition for Canadian Research brings together the combined voices of post‐secondary institutions, research hospitals, leading life sciences companies, university and hospital‐based researchers, university faculty, health charities, student leaders, graduate students, post‐doctoral fellows, and early career researchers across Canada.

You can help push Budget 2024 to include money for research on the campaign site

The call to action is simple: use the email tool on the site to send a message to the budget decision makers.

Let’s make our voices heard and push for badly needed research funding.
