News / CAUT joins Alberta coalition defending workers’ rights

CAUT has joined the fight against Bill 32: Restoring Balance in Alberta’s Workplaces, led by the Alberta Federation of Labour. Bill 32 made significant changes to the Alberta Labour Relations Code and became law on July 29, 2020.

“Bill 32 is a significant attack on labour rights that, if left challenged, could be taken up in other jurisdictions,” says CAUT Executive Director David Robinson.

The Alberta Coalition to Defend Worker Rights Partnership will challenge the law in court as it targets union activities such as dues collection, picketing, and political advocacy.
