News // National survey of contract academic staff launched

CAUT is undertaking a national survey of contract academic staff at Canadian universities, colleges and polytechnics to shed light on the working experiences of the thousands of academic staff who are hired to teach on a temporary basis every year.

“Ever-growing numbers of academic staff are trapped in precarious contract and part-time work,” says CAUT’s director of research and political action, Pam Foster. “CAUT has launched this survey because it’s important we learn more about the impacts of casualization.”

The survey is open until Nov. 1 to individuals who taught at least one course in the 2016–2017 academic year at a Canadian post-secondary institution.
