McMaster Librarians vote 100% in favor of a strike

With a high voter turnout, academic librarians at McMaster University have voted 100% in favor of striking if they are unable to reach a fair and reasonable settlement with the administration.

“This strike vote shows the members’ overwhelming support for their Bargaining Team and their determination to reach a fair agreement soon,” said Laura Banfield, President of the McMaster University Academic Librarians' Association (MUALA) in a press release.

Banfield says talks have stalled over the employer’s attempt to weaken professional and academic rights of the University’s librarians.

The two parties began conciliation on October 14, 2015.
