The terms of reference of the committee are to:

• investigate whether the Administration of Thompson Rivers University violated the academic freedom of Professor Derek Pyne in relation to his criticisms of the School of Business and Economics, and his research into the incidence of “predatory publishing” by colleagues and administrators;
• determine whether the suspension of Professor Pyne by the Administration of Thompson Rivers University was appropriate;
• make any relevant recommendations.
