News / Fighting precarious employment on campus

During CAUT’s annual Fair Employment Week, member associations across the country organized local events and activities to press for better working conditions for contract academic staff.

Martha Wells of the Lecturers’ Union of Memorial University, Jacob Remes of the Contract Faculty United at New York University and Benjamin Ralph of the University of Bath University and College Union kicked off the Week with an online discussion of contract academic staff wins in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.

The annual event highlights how precarious work is unfair to workers and students and encourages everyone on campus to help ensure fairness for contract academic staff.
