CAUT staff appointments

Tony Cantin

Director of Finance, HR and Operations

Tony brings two decades of senior management experience to the job. From 1999 to 2016, he was with Global Affairs Canada as a deputy-director and director at Canadian embassies and consulates in Costa Rica, the United States, Taiwan, and Afghanistan. In these roles, Tony was responsible for human resources, administration, financial services, procurement activities, property management services, IT/IM services, and risk management and emergency services. Tony was awarded the Public Service Award for Management Excellence from the Public Service Commission of Canada in 2008, and the Governor General’s Operational Service Medal in 2012.

Tony earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance and Human Resources from Université Laval. He also holds a law degree from McGill University and is a member of the Barreau du Québec.

Caroline Lachance

Research Officer

Caroline has spent the last 20 years at Universities Canada, most recently as their Research and Policy Manager. She brings a deep knowledge of relevant data and strong research, analytical and writing skills on a wide range of post-secondary education issues, including financial sustainability, faculty renewal, equity, diversity and inclusion, and internationalization.
