News / Survey aims to paint picture of Canada’s faculty

On October 7, Statistics Canada is launching the Survey of Post-secondary Faculty and Researchers. The survey will be in the field for two months and is sponsored by the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT), Innovation, Science and Economic Development Institutes Canada (CICan), Polytechnics Canada, Universities Canada, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

The survey is designed to capture information about faculty and researchers at publicly funded colleges and universities, including full and part-time faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and doctoral students. It will examine representation and equity, employment security, job duties, learning and development opportunities, access to research funding, and harassment and discrimination. CAUT is encouraging its members to participate in the survey.
