Tentative settlement at Brescia

The Brescia Faculty Association (BFA) has reached a tentative settlement last night after a day and a half of conciliation.

BFA began negotiating to renew their first collective agreement on April 29 and the membership gave a 94% strike mandate to their negotiation team on September 7. Wage parity with the small school comparators is a key issue at the bargaining table. Average salaries for BFA members are among the lowest in Ontario (21st out of 22 institutions).

Brescia is the only all-female school in Canada and 72% of BFA members are female, the highest percentage of female academics in any post-secondary institution in the country.
