Designed for association leaders and activists, this course’s guiding premise is that academic staff associations must take a leadership role in making equity a reality. Participants explore strategies to promote equity within their association and campus to strengthen the association’s ability to achieve diverse, inclusive and discrimination-free workplaces.
Course outline
Through this course, you will:
- Learn how to promote equity within your association and on campus
- Identify avenues to incorporate equity into collective agreements and the collective bargaining process
- Develop strategies to leverage the grievance process for advancing equity
- Map out a campaign and organizing strategies to promote equity

Course participants complete online learning modules and attend one three-hour webinar. Participants learn alongside colleagues from across Canada.
Course learning
Participants learn how to integrate equity considerations into collective bargaining, practice using the grievance process for equity, and develop campaigns and organizing strategies to advance equity on their campuses.
