Rights of Francophone librarians and archivists working in French in a minority language setting

Policy Statement

Francophone librarians and archivists working in a minority language setting should not suffer discrimination with respect to earnings, rank, appointments, promotions, tenure, appointment renewals, termination, or any other matter pertaining to their employment and professional status.

Post-secondary institutions should mobilize financial and human resources, implement specific programs and put in place any other measures needed to support Francophone librarians and archivists in a minority language setting so that they can effectively assist programs of study offered in French.

Francophone librarians and archivists working in a minority language setting should have the right and responsibility to participate in the collegial governance of the institution. Institutions should ensure there is equitable representation of librarians and archivists who provide academic services in French.
