Members of the Laurentian University Faculty Association (LUFA) have taken to the picket lines to achieve a fair contract, following months of negotiations.

LUFA members have endured years of instability and made extraordinary sacrifices following the university’s unprecedented use of the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act, which resulted in deep cuts, job losses, wage rollbacks and lasting damage to the institution’s academic mission.

The union is seeking a collective agreement that ensures the conditions necessary for high-quality teaching and research, addresses increased workloads, and protects its members' pension plan.

LUFA members voted 98% in favour of strike action in November. The union has urged the Board of Governors to return to negotiations and reach a fair agreement.

LUFA represents tenure-track faculty, limited-term faculty, master lecturers, librarians, sessionals, clinicians and professional staff at Laurentian University.
