University and college staff are amongst the most internationally mobile professionals. CAUT is committed to the international character of post-secondary education because it fosters the exchange and advance of knowledge, promotes cultural diversity and facilitates international cooperation and development. To encourage this exchange, and to provide protections and benefits for members temporarily working overseas, CAUT has negotiated reciprocal membership agreements with sister organizations in other countries. These agreements give CAUT members similar rights and protections they currently enjoy even when they are working outside Canada.
