Following months of difficult negotiations, the University of Prince Edward Island Faculty Association and employer have reached a tentative agreement after a provincial conciliator was appointed to assist the parties at the union’s request.
Details remain confidential until union members ratify the deal.
Faculty, librarians, and sessional and clinical nursing instructors at UPEI were working under an expired agreement for almost a year.
Meanwhile, the current collective agreement for the union’s membership of clinical veterinary professionals expired on April 30, 2007. Negotiations for a new contract are underway.
