Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges facing humanity. Academic associations hold great potential to organize their members around this critical issue. Likewise, they can aid universities and colleges in minimizing their environmental footprints.
Course outline
Drawing on the principles that frame a progressive approach to climate action, you will:
- Learn how to plan and execute advocacy initiatives that raise awareness and promote sustainable practices
- Explore ways to integrate environmental sustainability goals into the bargaining process
- Identify the unique role associations can play to drive institutional change on their campuses and in their communities
- Set priorities for your association in organizing for climate action

Alongside colleagues from across Canada, participants complete online learning modules and a three-hour webinar.
Course learning
Attendees learn practical skills to help their association address climate change at different levels of their institution. They do this by harnessing the power of their association and mobilizing their members.
The course prepares participants to guide their associations to a more sustainable future on their campuses.
