The Lecturers’ Union of Memorial University of Newfoundland (LUMUN) reached a tentative agreement just minutes before a strike deadline.

The union said there are significant gains in the new contract for per-course instructors who are currently paid among the lowest in the country.

Members of the union voted 90% in favour of a strike mandate after the administration repeatedly delayed negotiations and refused to table a financial proposal.
