The McGill administration agreed to drop its challenges to the certification of AMPL and the unionization efforts in the faculties of arts and education. In exchange, the unions agreed to create a federated structure for bargaining university-wide working conditions. All remaining issues at the AMPL negotiating table will be referred to arbitration.

“We look forward to confederating to bargain university-wide matters with McGill, and of course we look forward to finalizing our first collective agreement,” said AMPL President, Evan Fox-Decent. “The solidarity of CAUT, its member associations, the CAUT Defence Fund and the Flying Pickets made this possible. One lesson stands out above all others: when we fight, we win.”
