  • Scholars and students have faced increased attacks on their academic freedom and the autonomy of the institutions where they work. 
  • Attacks include killings, disappearances, violence, imprisonment, prosecution, loss of position, and travel restrictions.
  • Four documented incidents in Canada include the recent hate-motivated stabbing at the University of Waterloo.
