The Lee Lorch Award recognizes academics whose work has meaningfully advanced the values of post-secondary education, strengthened academic labour rights, and fostered intellectual engagement among students, peers and the public.
Recommendations
Nominations for the award may be submitted by individuals, member associations or others.
Recommendations should include the following:
- a letter of nomination giving a detailed statement describing specifically the contributions and achievements of the candidate as they relate to advancing the values of post-secondary education, strengthening academic labour rights, and fostering intellectual engagement among students, peers, and the public
- a letter of support from a CAUT member association (if the letter of nomination has not come from a CAUT member association)
- relevant supporting documents such as:
- a full curriculum vitae where appropriate
- other letters of support
The award will normally be given annually.
Nominations
CAUT will solicit nominations in the spring of each year. The deadline for nominations is August 31 of each year.
Nominations for the Lee Lorch Award can be made using this form.
Nominations will be adjudicated by a jury of the three most recent former presidents of CAUT. The jury’s recommendation will be made to the Fall CAUT Council for approval.
The award will be presented at the Spring CAUT Council. The recipient will be invited to give an address to Council. The address will be subsequently published by CAUT. The recipient will receive a $1,000 honorarium with the award.
Actively serving members of the CAUT Executive Committee are not eligible for the award.
