badgerBenign Unless Provoked

"Contrary to the University’s misleading full-page ad earlier in the week, academic salaries at Windsor will be below the provincial average were the University’s offer to be accepted. Pay for part-time faculty would be the lowest in the province, and the salary structure for full-time faculty would be the most unattractive in Ontario."

James L. Turk, Executive Director
Canadian Association of University Teachers

“This strike is, at heart, about maintaining the quality of a great university system. Ontario has historically provided its students with first-class faculty working in first-rate facilities. All faculty associations in Ontario support their Windsor colleagues in their refusal to bow to administration pressures to dilute that quality. Administration demands such as uncompetitive salaries, insecure employment for young teachers, and teaching-only positions all jeopardize the quality of university education. University wage demands will put Windsor faculty well below the Ontario average. The university is pleading poverty, but other universities in Ontario are meeting faculty salary demands while receiving the same level of provincial funding.”
Henry Mandelbaum
Executive Director,
Ontario Confederation of University
Faculty Associations

Messages of Solidarity

WUFA is heartened by all the expressions of support.  From within our University, our beloved city and environs, and to our sister associations and unions from afar.  To date, we have received generous contributions of food (for all our members and students marching the picket lines), material, and money.  Thank you!
