Article 18: Transfers within the University
18.1 It is recognized that enrolment patterns and changes in priorities among programs and/or courses influence the use and allocation of the human and financial resources of the University. The University has a responsibility to provide an opportunity for retraining or redeployment and/or transfer of faculty members and librarians in order to ensure the continuance of the academic/professional quality of the programs and to ensure the continued utilization of each tenured and probationary faculty member and librarian.
18.2 If a faculty member or librarian requests a transfer to a vacant position in another academic unit, the University must, within ninety days of the request, agree to the transfer or indicate, in writing, the reasons for non-agreement. The University agrees that any faculty member or librarian who desires to transfer to another academic unit shall be given first consideration over applicants who are not currently tenured or probationary faculty members or librarians at the University.
18.3 Any faculty member who transfers to another academic unit shall retain as a minimum all existing entitlement, including, but not limited to, his or her current status with regard to salary, tenure/continuing appointment, rank, years of service towards Study/Research Leave, credit towards Research, Study and Professional Development semester(s), pensions and benefits.
18.4 Any librarian who transfers to another division or unit within the library system shall retain all entitlement including but not limited to his/her current status with regard to continuing appointment, years of service toward study/research leave, credit toward pensions and benefits.
