Article 11: Joint Consultative Committee

11.1 The parties agree to form, for the duration of the Agreement, a Joint Consultative Committee, comprising three representative appointed by each party. The Committee shall be constituted and meet within thirty days of the date of signing this Agreement.

11.2 The Joint Consultative Committee will:

11.2.1 endeavour to develop and maintain a spirit of co-operation and mutual respect;

11.2.2 receive from the Association and the University through their Committee representative, matters arising from the administration, interpretation, and operation of the Agreement;

11.2.3 periodically evaluate the transfer of information between the University and the Association;

11.2.4 facilitate better working relationships between the Association and the University; and

11.2.5 foster better communications among the various components of the University of Guelph community.

11.3 The Committee’s Chair and Vice-Chair will be selected annually from among its members. The position of Chair alternates annually between a representative of the University and of the Association. The Vice-Chair is selected annually, and shall be a representative of the party other than the one from which the Chair was chosen. They jointly agree on the agenda for each meeting. The Chair reports at regular intervals to the President of the University and to the President of the Association regarding the Committee’s deliberations and recommendations.

11.4 In addition, the Chair convenes special meetings within fourteen days following receipt of written notice from either the Association or the University. Each member of the Committee receives notice no less than five working days before the scheduled date of any meeting, and receives the agenda of each meeting from the Chair at least forty-eight hours in advance of the meeting. The Committee holds regular meetings at the call of the Chair at least twice each academic semester.

11.5 The Committee sets its own rules for all other procedural matters, including the quorum required to transact business.
