Parliament Hill Day

November 25, 2010

CAUT is once again coordinating a one-day lobby of federal Members of Parliament in support of post-secondary education. If the House of Commons is in session, the lobby will take place in Ottawa on Thursday, November 25, 2010, one day prior to CAUT Council.

Parliament Hill Day is an important opportunity for representatives of member associations to meet with their MPs in order to highlight the challenges facing post-secondary institutions and to propose ways the federal government can improve access and quality. I strongly encourage representatives of associations planning to attend November Council to take part in this year’s lobby.

If you are able to participate, please fill out and return the attached registration form by September 10, 2010.  You may also confirm your participation with Jocelyne Fortier at (613) 820-2270, ext. 171.

Once we receive your registration, we will contact on your behalf the Members of Parliament in your local federal riding to request  meetings.  As a rule, we contact all MPs in your institution’s riding and in the immediately adjacent ridings unless otherwise instructed by you.

Prior to lobby day, CAUT will be forwarding participants additional background information and suggested speaking points to assist in preparation for meetings.

Please note that Council will begin on Friday, November 26. Further details regarding Council will be sent to you shortly.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (613) 820-2270, ext. 188 or robinson@caut.ca.
