Model Clause on Academic Staff Members Serving on the Board of Governors

Academic staff members who serve on the Board of Governors shall retain their membership in the bargaining unit with all the rights and privileges of the collective agreement.

NOTE:
If academic staff members serving on the Board of Governors at your institution are by law – either the Labour Relations Act or the University Act – excluded from the bargaining unit the following wording should be substituted for the above.

Academic staff members who serve on the Board of Governors shall retain their academic staff appointment with terms and conditions of employment consistent with the collective agreement.  Upon ceasing to be a member of the Board of Governors such members shall return to the bargaining unit without interruption and with no loss of any rights or privileges.
