Equity and Diversity Council
The Equity and Diversity Council is a standing committee of Council. The purpose of the committee is to ensure the sharing of information among the four equity Working Groups and to advise the CAUT Council and Executive Committee on equity concerns, including CAUT issues which have not previously been identified as having an impact on diversity and equity interests.
For each of the bi-annual meetings of the Equity and Diversity Council, each equity Working Group selects two members to attend the meeting and to report on the work of their Group. Bringing together representatives of the four working groups is an opportunity to ensure that recommendations made to the CAUT Executive and CAUT Council are as intersectional and inclusive as possible.
Meetings of the Equity and Diversity Council are chaired by 2 co-chairs who are elected by CAUT Council and serve as members of the CAUT Executive Committee.
The four equity Working Groups of CAUT are as follows:
- Academic Staff with Disabilities Working Group
- Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgendered, Queer and 2-Spirited Academic Staff Working Group
- Racialized Academic Staff Working Group
- Women Academic Staff Working Group
- Doreen Fumia (Ryerson - Co-Chair)
- Eve Haque (York - Co-Chair)
- 2 representatives from the Academic Staff with Disabilities Working Group
- 2 representatives from the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgendered, Queer and 2-Spirited Academic Staff Working Group
- 2 representatives from the Racialized Academic Staff Working Group
- 2 representatives from the Women Academic Staff Working Group
