The Persistent Gap — Understanding male-female salary differentials amongst Canadian academic staff (March 2011)

There has been a long-standing concern amongst policymakers, economists, and trade unions over the persistent earnings gap between men and women in the Canadian labour market. Although this gap has narrowed over time, women’s average hourly wages still remain about 16% lower than that earned by men.

The Tenure Gap — Women’s university appointments, 1985-2005 (September 2008)

Academic tenure is an essential protection of academic freedom. It is vital to creating the conditions that allow excellent teaching and scholarly research to flourish. The existence of gender disparities in the awarding of tenure therefore raises serious concerns about the status of female faculty in Canadian universities.
