Travel Procedures

CAUT Council has adopted a policy that all travel paid for by the association for travel to Council or committee meetings and for Executive and staff travel must be booked through its agent, W.E. Travel and preferred use of unionized hotels and air carriers.

This policy has been adopted to ensure that CAUT pays the lowest possible fare available at the time of booking. As well, this policy will alleviate the need for committee members and Council delegates or their faculty associations be out of pocket for the cost of travel until reimbursement is received.

W.E. Travel specializes in union travel management. They have been in business since 1971 and maintain two offices, one in Vancouver and the other in Ottawa. Their existing clients include the Canadian Labour Congress, the Public Service Alliance of Canada and one of our members, FPSE.

To book travel with W.E. Travel, call: 1-888-676-7747. Their local number, for those in the Ottawa area, is 613-232-9908. There is no need to ask for a specific travel agent; all agents are in a position to service our account. If you are travelling for a purpose other than a committee meeting, W.E. Travel can also book your hotel and car rental as needed.

Requests for travel bookings may also be sent by email to ottawa@wetravel.net or may be booked online at www.wetravel.net. If you choose to book online, a travel agent will follow up with a telephone call to confirm your booking and ensure that all your needs are met.

W.E. Travel's regular office hours are 8:30 AM to 5PM Monday through Friday. If you require assistance after the Ottawa office is closed, you may contact the Vancouver office up to 8 PM Eastern time. The number in Vancouver is 1-800-663-4703, or locally 604-253-5585.
