Many female academic staff continue to encounter discrimination and harassment in their jobs. Despite some progress in recent years, there remain very few women in senior academic positions in our universities and colleges. Female academics continue to earn much less than their male counterparts.
CAUT is committed to equity for women. We actively work to ensure that female academic staff receive equal treatment both in and outside the workplace. We fight for provisions in collective agreements and campaign for policies and practices that will end gender discrimination and advance the interests of women.
CAUT has launched a new education workshop for associations seeking to advance their work for equity. "Promoting Inclusivity” is a one-day, on-site facilitated workshop that identifies key equity issues in the post-secondary sector and provides strategies to help address those issues. Designed for association leaders, this workshop is an opportunity to develop and adopt inclusive practices within associations while advocating for equity more broadly within the institution. Please contact Linda Rumleski for more information or to schedule a workshop.
