Many academic staff face discrimination and harassment in their jobs. Aboriginal persons and visible and ethnic minorities are under-represented on our campuses. Lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgendered academic staff often feel they must hide their sexuality out of fear of damaging their careers. Much work needs to be done to end discrimination against disabled staff.
CAUT opposes discrimination and is committed to equity for marginalized groups. We actively work to ensure that all academic staff receive equal treatment both in and outside the workplace. We fight for equity provisions in collective agreements and campaign for policies and practices that end systemic discrimination.
