PROFILE SEIU 902 (ACADIA CAMPUS)

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 902 Bargaining Unit at Acadia University consists of full-time, part-time, sessional and term employees who provide secretarial, technical, clerical, non-professional library and other non-academic services. The complement of 104 members is comprised of 25 clerical, 42 secretarial, 15 technical and 22 library support staff. The Bargaining Unit’s executive officers are Elke Willmann, Chairperson, Linda Gillespie, Vice Chair and Suzanne Stewart, Unit Representative. This employee group at Acadia University has been certified with SEIU and affiliated with the Annapolis Valley Labour Council, the Nova Scotia Federation of Labour and the Canadian Labour Congress since 1985.

 

The Collective Agreement between the Board of Governors of Acadia University and SEIU Local 902 (Acadia Campus) is in effect from May 1, 2005 to June 30, 2008.  A Pre-Negotiation Survey was sent to the membership to identify the main issues that need to be addressed during the next round of negotiations. Some of the concerns that have already been raised are the salary grid structure and the Health Spending Account/Dental Plan.
