THE AUFA PRESIDENT COMMUNICATES

One for all, and all for one.

It’s been a busy term! While the actual signing of the part time CA has been delayed, both part time and full time members of the AUFA have already ratified separate motions to combine the two bargaining units so that the AUFA will be one Association with one bargaining unit.  As we go forward on this decision, we shall need to keep a steady eye on the common interest we share as a faculty association. My own belief is that an attitude of “one for all and all for one” will strengthen us in whole and part.

I am also encouraged by the recent vote of confidence in the leadership of the Executive.  It is a hard working Executive – we have met often this term, with every meeting lasting more than two hours.

Next term will be just as busy, as we work toward integrating the part time and full time collective agreements, as well as continue to prepare for negotiating the 11th Collective Agreement. Roundtables are underway.  It is important for individual members to attend these so that their voices can be heard as we decide on our bargaining priorities and strategy.

Best wishes for the holiday season and for the new year!
